Drayton Bird - some advice
Drayton Bird is the UK's foremost direct marketer. In his new, compulsive website Drayton Bird explains the major principles of direct marketing. At the top of his list of 51 helpful DM ideas are these words:
“Communicate more than your competitors”.
Yes, we all say, of course we must. But to give you an idea of what this five word idea involves, click the link through to Drayton’s summary guidelines:
“Communicate more than your competitors and you’ll outdo them. Keep talking to your prospects until it doesn’t pay.”
Here is my advice to add to Drayton Bird’s:
“You can’t outdo your competitors without an experienced marketing advisor. Would you go to war without weapons, without a commanding General?”
You can’t win a war, or market share without an expertly planned and executed strategic plan. You can see some of Drayton Bird’s work by clicking on the article title above.
Magforum
Tony Quinn, who has written for Subscriptions Strategy, runs the Magforum website. Magforum carries news and history on many magazine publishers, with extracts from other media commentators such as David Hepworth. Magforum is unique among UK websites - nothing seems to escape Tony Quinn's expert and experienced eye.
See Tony Quinn's article for Subscriptions Strategy here, all about Grazia and its so-far-successful attack on the world of Vogue. I suppose you could call it Posh vs posh - one being a person and the other an attitude.

Marketing Profs
Marketing Profs is a wide ranging forum for marketing advice, subscribed to by students and experts. You will see that Peter Hobday is listed in first place in the copywriter category. That doesn't mean I am the best, most expert copywriter in the Marketing Profs forum. It just means my answers are accepted more often than others.
